Longboard Siding – Speciality Exteriors

Longboard siding is a premium siding product made out of aluminum. It is available in a wide array of colours as well as wood grain and other patterned finishes. Longboard is a unique material and it is amazing at how much the wood grain patterns look like real wood. The first time I ever saw it I actually had to touch it to feel that it wasn’t actually real wood.

What Is Longboard Siding?

Longboard Aluminum siding is a premium metal siding material that has a powder coated finish. It comes in 24 foot lengths which make it easy to cover larger ares without having joints or seems in the horizontal runs.

Longboard is made locally in Abbotsford B.C. which we really like. Jericho Exteriors really likes supporting local Canadian made products and it is great to have such a great quality material being made locally.

The siding boards are a tongue and groove fitting and use solid clips to fasten it securely to your house. They come in either 4″ reveal or 6″ reveal and have either a “V” groove profile or channel groove profile.

Where To Use Longboard Siding

While it may be possible to use Longboard siding for your entire home we most often use it as a feature product in smaller areas in a focal point or feature area. Utilizing this premium product as a feature material can add a lot of interest and uniqueness to your home without adding a lot of extra cost.

Some great areas we have used Longboard on previous projects are as feature stripes on chimney runs, to frame out a front entrance, in front gables, and other similar focal point areas on the front of homes. Pretty much anywhere you can use regular siding products and want to create a stunning feature area on your house, you can use Longboard Aluminum siding to achieve this.

One great use of Longboard is as a soffit material. It really adds a rich look and a custom feel to any project when you use it as soffit.

Another great feature of Longboard is that it can be used as an exterior material as well as for interior uses. When used indoors for something like a feature wall or maybe around a fireplace or similar area it can really add a great pop of color and design while being extremely low maintenance and durable.

Other Longboard Products

The company that makes Longboard continues to expand its product line and is now offering some very interesting new products that you can use for your exterior finishing ideas. The nice thing about all of these new products is that they can be made in all of the colors and patterns that their regular siding comes in and they are all made out of durable aluminum which makes them very low maintenance and have a long lifespan.

Link And Lock Battens

Link and Lock battens are designed to look like dimensional lumber and can be used in a wide variety of areas. They are often used as privacy screens, feature fence areas, or architectural details to add a very unique look to your project.

Ceiling Beams

Ceiling beams are very similar to the link and lock battens above but come in larger sizes and like all other Longboard products are made out of aluminum and are available in all the usual colors and wood grains. These ceiling beams look great used as a decorative feature in high ceiling rooms, open or covered patios, or other special featured type of areas.

Privacy Screen Beams

Privacy screen beams are dimensional beams like the other two products above but come in taller and narrower profiles that work great for creating privacy screens. One really nice design idea for these is to stagger the beams and leave out a section or two to allow some carefully chosen site lines and airflow.

Facts About Aluminum Siding

Aluminum is one of the most recycled products in the world. Nearly 75% of Aluminum produced in the United States is from recycled products, as well, over 55% of all aluminum in the world is made using renewable hydroelectric power.

Aluminum does not corrode and the specific per-treatment techniques that are applied to Longboard products helps protect Longboard from oxidation.

Aluminum siding is more durable than vinyl siding and much lighter weight than fiber cement siding.

Longboard aluminum siding is naturally fire resistant and can be used in areas where a fire rated assembly is required.
